Hello

We know that teams do not have the luxury of time anymore. They need to get to impact, quickly.

That is why The GC Index is the language and framework of choice for teams who want to align their collective energy to what the business actually needs.

There are 100's of team development frameworks and you will no doubt have your favourite.

Most team frameworks are still highly relevant. whether you are using Tuckman, Lencioni, SCARF, GRPI, Hackman or something more structured like the work coming out of McKinsey & Company on organisational performance.

They all help teams think about how they operate.

But they do not always help teams answer a more immediate question: Where do we need to put our energy to deliver what matters?

That is where The GC Index comes in.

The GC Index sits alongside whatever framework you are using and gives teams a clear, practical way to align their impact to their objectives.

Whatever team process or framework you are using, The GC Index strengthens it.

It helps teams step back and ask some very practical questions.

  • What do we need to explore differently? (Game Changer)
  • What do we need to make sense of and think through? (Strategist)
  • What do we simply need to get done? (Implementer)
  • What needs improving or raised in quality? (Polisher)
  • Where do we need to engage others, whether that is stakeholders, clients or colleagues? (Play Maker)

In other words, it helps teams align their natural Energy for Impact to their objectives.

I saw this very clearly last week.

I was working with a team using a McKinsey team performance structure, and we used The GC Index to map the energy required across their key priorities.

It took around 20 minutes to get to clarity on where their collective energy needed to go for each of the key priorities. Their feedback was that this would normally have taken all day listening to all different opinions and then frame them into meaningful business impact.

Not because anything was rushed, the conversation was focused on impact from the start with everyone speaking the same language of contribution to the objective.

That is why The GC Index works so well with any team model. It does not compete with it. It underpins it with a clear language of impact.

As Barbara Lancaster said, "If you are not using The GC Index at the start of any team engagement, you are starting in the middle of the movie."

Finally, if you want to build more confidence in using this approach, we also have free Team Impact Workshop trainings for GCologists in GC Partners. You can find the link here:
