Hello

Last week, I had the privilege of spending several days in Cairo, and what a powerful moment it was for The GC Index on the global stage of executive education.

Hosted by our GC Partner, the American University in Cairo (AUC) and their Onsi Sawiris School of Business, the week centred around the UNICON Directors’ Conference 2025—a flagship event that brings together the world’s most influential leaders in business school based executive education.

With over 90 senior leaders from over 70 Leading Global Business Schools in attendance including Stanford, MIT Sloan, Johns Hopkins, Imperial, Warwick, Yale, INSEAD, ESADE,UBC HKUST, CEIBS and many more, it was the most well-attended UNICON Directors' Conference in years—truly a global gathering from the US, UK, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.

The GC Index: Front and Centre on Day Two

The GC Index took centre stage on Day Two of the conference with immersive, energising sessions titled:

“Empowering Leadership in Executive Education: Navigating Change Through Self-Awareness.”

Every delegate had taken The GC Index prior to the session and had a 1-2-1 review of their impact profile by one of the AUC GCologists. We kicked off by exploring their individual profiles and shared group data.

The energy in the room was palpable as we cut that data across dimensions like age, geography, and gender—demonstrating not only the diversity of the cohort but also the power of The GC Index framework to reveal new layers of understanding in leadership teams.

No two individuals shared the same GC Index profile. This beautifully highlighted the uniqueness of impact each leader brings to their institution and the wider ecosystem of executive education.

Then came the real-world application:

Working in diverse groups from a GC Index proclivity perspective (all participants had their proclivity wristbands on!) and business school perspective, participants tackled live challenges facing the industry—from AI’s disruption of learning models, to evolving organisational structures, to how UNICON itself can better support member institutions in the face of change.

The feedback was unequivocal: The GC Index gave everyone a new shared language to understand, navigate, and accelerate impact—individually, institutionally, and globally.

Beyond UNICON 2025: Broadening Impact at AUC

Outside the UNICON 2025 conference itself, I was kept wonderfully busy by our our GC Partner The American University in Cairo and in particular the Onsi Sawiris School of Business.

The Onsi Sawiris School of Business is a fantastic GC Partner that really understands the power of The GC Index in supporting Executive Education programmes and institutions.

I was supported and taken care of by their wonderful GCologists from AUC’s executive education leadership:

  • Mohamed AbdelSalam (Executive Director, Executive Education)
  • Dr Ayman Ismail (Founding Director, AUC Venture Lab)
  • Maha Ismail (Director of Management Programs)
  • Marlyne Micheal (Director of Business Solutions)
  • Maha Madany (Manager, Business Solutions)
  • Sherine Meshad (Director of Communication and Marketing)
  • Ghada Howaidy (Former Associate Dean & Co-founder/Director of GC Partner Leading the Future Ltd, UK).

I just want to thank you all for your amazing efforts and hospitality. I'll be back!!

During my trip we had the chance to present to AUC’s senior corporate clients—introducing The GC Index as a strategic tool for leadership development, team dynamics, and organisational transformation.

We ran team sessions, explored GC data with leadership groups and Alumni, and demonstrated the importance of The GC Index for those wanting to concretely apply their education into the real world of work.

I also spent time with AUC’s Venture Lab, exploring how The GC Index can empower entrepreneurial teams to scale impact with greater self-awareness and strategic alignment. It was a deeply rewarding exchange of ideas and energy.

A Turning Point for Executive Education?

This week reinforced something I’ve believed for a long time:

The GC Index isn’t just a tool for leadership development—it’s a system of impact that belongs at the heart of the business school conversation.

In a world of shifting learner demands, hybrid models, and strategic reinvention, executive education leaders are hungry for approaches that move beyond personality to performance—to understand how people want to contribute, and how to mobilise that contribution in ways that drive real organisational progress.

We’re proud that The GC Index is being recognised as a framework that empowers institutions, educators, and learners to do just that.

A huge thank you to the American University in Cairo for everything, to the UNICON Team and all the participating schools for welcoming The GC Index so warmly.

This was not just a trip to deliver a day at a conference —it was a milestone in our mission to shape the future of impact in executive education.

Keep making your best impact!

Nathan
